Today is our last trip. We are going to visit one of several palaces owned by the British Royal family and one of the major tourist attractions in London. When the Queen is here, the royal standard (flag) flutters over the palace. The original building was constructed as a country house in 1705 by the duke John Sheffield. A king bought the house in 1762 for his wife and had it altered by William Chambers. It was renovated continuously over the next 75 years and grew immensely. The principle architects during this time were John Nash and Edward Blore. Together, they formed three wings around a central courtyard. The location finally became the official royal palace of the British monarch in 1837.
Nowadays a very interesting ceremony takes place in front of the building every morning that continues to draw large crowds of spectators.
